BONUS SOCIALI: ENERGIA ELETTRICA, GAS NATURALE E ACQUA

The Italian Government has implemented an economic aid program called the 2023 Social Bonus to provide support for large, low-income, and/or disadvantaged families in the form of discounts on gas, electricity, and water bills. These measures were initially introduced as temporary support but have now been made permanent and strengthened to address the impact of rising prices due to the Ukrainian war and subsequent inflationary pressures.

What is the "Bonus Sociali: Energia Elettrica, Gas Naturale e Acqua"?

The social bonuses for domestic consumption are discounts applied to the bills of families who meet specific criteria of economic hardship, certified by the ISEE indicator. There are three types of bonuses available:

1. Bonus Sociale Energia Elettrica (Electricity)

2. Bonus Sociale Gas Naturale (Natural Gas)

3. Bonus Sociale Acqua (Water)

To qualify for one or more bonuses, it is essential to possess a valid ISEE certificate that verifies the economic and asset status of the household. Since January 1, 2021, thanks to changes introduced by Legislative Decree 124/2019, it is no longer necessary to submit a separate application for these bonuses. The companies providing the services will automatically recognize the bonuses upon validation of the ISEE certificate.

Who is eligible for the bonus?

The Social Bonus is available to all domestic customers who hold an electricity/gas/water supply contract and meet the following requirements:

- ISEE indicator not exceeding 15,000 euros, as determined by the 2023 Budget Law, which increased the inclusiveness threshold from the previous value of 12,000 euros. (For the water bonus, the ISEE indicator must not exceed 8,265 euros.)

- ISEE indicator not exceeding 20,000 euros when there are more than four children in the household.

How does it work?

The bonus is applied directly as a discount on the electricity/gas/water bill, distributed over 12 months rather than as a lump sum payment.

Validity:

The bonus remains valid for 12 months from the moment of activation. After this period, to obtain a new bonus, the beneficiary will need to renew the ISEE certificate for their household.
